We’re glad you decided to visit Bailey’s Garden.org to learn more about this exciting project. Bailey’s Garden is an ADA compliant playground that is currently being built at Lebanon Elementary School in memory of our daughter, Bailey Teresa Shifrin. The initial playground design was completed in conjunction with M.E. O’Brien and Sons of Massachusetts. The playground incorporates accessible play structures for children ages 2-12. It will be comprised of accessible ramps in order to enable all children to utilize slides, swings, seesaws, games, and gather in common areas for socialization, as well as provide parallel play for children on various climbers and “overhead events” (gliders, etc.). The main focus of the playground will be the central meeting area that overlooks a large garden (“Bailey’s Garden”) where children of all abilities can gather and play.

The overall cost of this project will run upwards of $200,000-$250,000. However, the playground will be completed in three phases and will likely be completed over a three-year period. Once the appropriate funds are obtained for each phase, the materials will take 6-8 weeks to be shipped, and approximately one month to be installed. The actual construction of the playground will be completed via a community build, and so will hopefully be completed by the Spring of 2009.

Phase two is up and running. Thanks to all of our volunteers who made it go so smoothly! Check out more info. and pictures on our News and Events page!
